PRE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Participants must arrive at Nautical Mile
Park beginning at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 6, 2018 to check in, get their
wristband and carving set with light.
At 3:30PM only registered participants will be allowed in the record attempt area. As they enter the gate they will display their wristband to the Witness.
The wristband will have the number of the pumpkin assigned to the participant and they will locate the pumpkin in the appropriate row of pumpkins. There will be twenty-four rows of fifty pumpkins each. The rows will be clearly marked as will each pumpkin.
NO CARVING CAN BEGIN UNTIL THE START GUN SOUNDS AT 4:00 PM AND THEN EVERY PARTICIPANT MUST BEGIN CARVING THEIR PUMPKINS AT THE SAME TIME AND DO SO FOR FIVE CONTINUOUS MINUTES WITHOUT STOPPING. THERE WILL BE A GUINNESS STEWARD FOR EVERY ROW OF FIFTY PUMPKINS AND THEY MUST SIGN AN AFFIDAVIT AS TO HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE CARVING DURING THAT FIVE MINUTE PERIOD. ANYONE NOT CARVING FOR THE FULL FIVE MINUTES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE RECORD. A SECOND FINISH GUN WILL SOUND TO SIGNIFY THE FINISH.
AS MUCH TIME AS NECESSARY MAY BE TAKEN FOLLOWING THE
FIVE MINUTE PERIOD TO CARVE THE PUMPKIN, BUT EVERY PUMPKIN MUST END UP WITH
TWO EYES A NOSE AND A MOUTH. Please turn tealight candle on and leave in pumpkin for viewing in the evening.
During the attempt the effort will be recorded with overhead drone video, video on the ground and video of every pumpkin once they are all carved. This must be submitted as evidence for the record.
PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 5 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AND BE ABLE TO CARVE FOR 5 MINUTES WITHOUT STOPPING.
